The joint investigation continues into a pair of armed robberies at two St. Thomas banks in the last week. Deputy Police Chief Theodore Carty said Tuesday that the FBI and V.I. Police are "following leads in both cases."
Carty urged the public to come forward with any information that could help police make arrests.
The suspect police are seeking in both cases is a white male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, who was wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, white T-shirt and khaki shorts at the time of the Bank of Nova Scotia robbery Monday morning.
The ScotiaBank suspect had a beard; last week's suspect, who robbed Chase Manhattan Bank on the waterfront, was clean-shaven.
Carty reported two other incidents Tuesday morning.
A man at the Red Hook branch of Banco Popular said he wished the bank would be robbed when a teller told him she couldn't change a large number of small bills into $100 bills.
Later in the morning police responded to a holdup alarm at Plaza Extra, but upon arrival found the alarm had been tripped accidentally.
