BIR SEEKS UPDATED BUSINESS INFORMATION

The Bureau of Internal Revenue wants businesses to fill out a form now so that it will know what forms to send them for tax year 2000.
All V.I. businesses are being asked to complete Form Y2K-VI, "Year 2000 Business Update Survey," and submit it to the BIR by Dec. 17. It will provide the bureau with current mailing addresses and information on mergers, reorganizations and closings.
The data will assist "in determining the proper gross receipts, hotel room and withholding forms to mail to businesses," BIR director Claudette Farrington said.
Forms may be picked up on St. Thomas and St. Croix at the BIR offices, Chamber of Commerce offices and Licensing and Consumer Affairs offices; on St. John, they're available at the Administrator's Office.
Completed forms may be dropped off at any of these locations or faxed to 714-9345 (attention Rosalind Scipio) on St. Thomas or to 773-1006 (attention Joseph Walker) on St. Croix.
