THREE PEOPLE SHOT OVER THE WEEKEND

Two related shootings and a third apparently unrelated in the predawn hours of Sunday morning have left three people injured, one critically, on St. Thomas.
Acting Chief of Police Jose Garcia reported that a man and a youth who were sleeping in a safari bus at Oswald Harris Court were shot around 5:30 a.m. David Barrow, 17, an OHC resident, was struck in the head and left hand. He was reported in critical condition at Roy L. Schneider Hospital. Ivan Chinnery, 39, was shot in the legs and right buttocks. His condition was reported as stable at the hospital.
The other shooting occurred in the Thomasville apartments area in Bovoni. Bert Cuffy, 29, was shot as he returned home early Sunday morning. Police investigators learned that Cuffy was approached by a masked, shotgun-wielding man who demanded money and jewelry. When Cuffy said he had neither, the assailant shot him in the left and right thighs and in his right arm. The victim is hospitalized in stable condition.
Police have no suspects, no motive and no weapons in either of the incidents, Garcia said. He appealed Sunday night to anyone with information in either case to contact police detectives at 774-4050 or 911.
