MEETINGS SET ON FEMA PUBLIC ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has designated Office of Management and Budget director Ira Mills as the "Governor's Authorized Representative" (GAR) to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to deal with federal assistance for recovery from losses incurred as a result of Hurricane Lenny.
In that capacity, Mills has scheduled briefings Friday on St. Croix and Monday on St. Thomas and St. John for government department and agency heads and representatives of not-for-profit agencies providing public services.
The briefings "are essential prerequisites for application to the public assistance program," Mills said, "to ensure federal/FEMA reimbursement for damages to facilities as a result of Hurricane Lenny."
The St. Croix briefing is to take place Friday at 10 a.m. in the jury assembly room on the second floor of the Territorial Court Building.
The St. Thomas session is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. at the OMB Public Assistance Office in Berne's Allery.
The St. John meeting is to be Monday at 2 p.m. in the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency's emergency operations center.
