ST. THOMAS AIRPORT CLOSED, SEAPORT OPEN

High winds left behind by Hurricane Lenny forced the Port Authority to close the St. Thomas airport again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
With winds gusting as high as 47 knots, the Port Authority said it had received numerous reports from pilots experiencing moderate to severe turbulence as they approached the Cyril E. King Airport.
The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix was reopened at noon Thursday after being shut down during Hurricane Lenny's trip through the islands.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Coast Guard reopened St. Thomas' seaports at 8 p.m Thursday, according to a press release from the West Indian Company.
WICO said the Majesty of the Seas and the Galaxy cruise ships will be in port Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Horizon was to arrive at 8 a.m. at the WICO docks and stay until 6 p.m.
WICO spokesman Calvin Wheatley said some other cruise vessels scheduled to visit Friday opted to return to the U.S. mainland. They included the Volendam, Massdam and Crystal Harmony.
Wheatley said the Seabourn Pride and Dawn Princess were still expected to call at St. Thomas on Saturday. Both are to arrive early Saturday morning and remain in port until 6 p.m.
The Nordic Empress, scheduled to come into St. Thomas on Saturday, will call on Sunday instead, arriving at 7 a.m. and departing at 5:30 p.m. And the Fascination will make its regular Sunday visit from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
