F’MAN’S REEF TAKES HOME THE BUBBLY

Marriott Frenchman's Reef, helmed by Chris Rosenberg, was the overall winner in the Vitel Cellular St. Croix International Regatta this weekend.
Sailing in 10 to 15 knot winds on Sunday, Rosenberg's Melges 24 won Class C to seal the Class and Overall Trophy. Although it’s not the Mumm’s Cup Regatta any longer, Rosenberg will still go back to St. Thomas with his weight’s worth of bubbly.
Second overall went to another Melges 24, Stanley Lopes' Trust Bank, with local sailors Chris Stanton and crew claiming third aboard the J-24 Jersey Devil.
Both organizers and competitors declared the event a success, with challenging sailing, tough competition, and good times had by all.
Sunday's winds were lighter than the previous two days, and no broken boats were reported. But the sailors who were fast in the heavy air proved that they could handle the light stuff as well.
In Class A, Kevin Rowlette's Rushin’ Rowlette won the class trophy for the regatta. Second was Les Crouch's Twister, with Eddie Brockbank's Fastidiots third. Class B was narrowly won by the Stantons over John Foster's Magnificent 7, with Paul Lordi's Sorceress third.
In Class C, Frits Bus's Carib Mantra was third behind Frenchman's Reef and Trust bank.
Class D, cruiser/racer, was won by Peter Haycraft's Pipe Dream, followed by John Haracivet's Tempest in second and Robin Tattersall's Diva in third. In Class E, main and jib, Stan Joines's Windflower was first over Martin Oliver's One Wing. Andrew Lieder was third aboard Harmony.
Class F, multihulls, was won by Llewellyn Westerman aboard Charis.
