HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT CHARGED IN RAPE OF 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A 17-year-old Charlotte Amalie High School student has been arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful sexual contact in the first degree and two counts of aggravated rape against a 7-year-old girl.
On Tuesday, the Juvenile Investigation Bureau arrested Charles Cornwall Jr., a resident of Oswald Harris Court Building 9, Apartment 102.
Cornwall is accused of committing specific acts in April 1998 which police say constitute unlawful sexual contact against a child. Police said Cornwall had sexual intercourse with the girl in December 1998 as well. He was arrested as a minor for the aggravated rape last December, according to a release from Police Chief Jose Garcia.
Cornwall has been transferred from the Juvenile Court and will be tried as an adult.
Bail was initially set at $25,000 but during the advice of rights hearing was increased to $300,000.
