PROSSER THANKS SENATORS

Businessman Jeffrey Prosser thanked the eight senators who voted in favor of the controversial "Prosser bill" that sought to give all the companies under his Innovative Communications Corp. umbrella a 30-year tax ride in exchange for some land and public projects.
Gov. Charles W. Turnbull vetoed the bill Friday, saying it was ambiguous, illegal and not in the best interest of the people of the Virgin Islands.
In a statement issued from ICC the same day, Prosser said he knows the governor to be an outspoken supporter of the private-public partnership and a champion of the public projects Prosser promised to help build if he received the requested tax breaks.
Prosser went on to say ICC has a very sincere interest in assisting in turning around the V.I. economy and he looks forward "to working with the government and the private sector on the difficult task ahead."
