'LOCALS' SINBAD TICKETS ON SALE WEDNESDAY

Tickets for locals to the Sinbad Soul Music Festival go on sale Wednesday and will remain available at discounted prices for residents for two weeks, through Tuesday, May 18.
The tickets will be $20 each for main stage events or $50 for all three main stage events, according to Michelle Mauldin, spokesperson for Knight Quality Stations. The three stations, WVWI AM 1000, KISS 101.30 FM and 105 JAMZ FM, have been named the official radio stations for the Sinbad Soul Music Festival.
Tickets will only be available at discounted prices for the limited period. After May 18 they will go up to the regular prices of $60 per event and $150 for the three-event package.
Richard Doumeng, president of the St. Thomas-St. John Hotel and Tourism Association, discussed the progress of the festival on Radio One news Monday morning, saying that though the road had been a little bumpy getting to this point, he still felt this Memorial Day weekend would be the "best of our lifetime."
Manny Centeno, who has been the point person from Tourism on the event, said, "We're still low on room bookings. There haven't been as many as we were told, but we're working on that."
The venue still needs some "nuts and bolts" things, too, according to Centeno. "There are still some beautification things that need to be done. For one thing we have to remove the Carnival Committee's stage to make room for the stage Sinbad is bringing in."
And 600,000 square feet of sod delivered for Lionel Roberts Stadium today or tomorrow.

Saturday night May 29 will feature Roy Ayers, Debarge featuring El Debarge and a special guest to be announced. The Sunday night wrap up will include a tribute to Marvin Gaye featuring Will Downing, Kenny Lattimore, Jon B., El Debarge and other musical guests as well as SOS Band and Smokey Robinson.
