3 'MONEY' AGENCIES OPEN DURING HOLIDAYS

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has authorized three government agencies to operate limited teller services on Wednesday, March 31, Thursday, April 1, and Monday, April 5.
The Finance Department, Licensing and Consumer Affairs and the Internal Revenue Bureau will hold regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those days. They will all be closed Good Friday, April 2.
The goal, Turnbull said, is to make it easy for residents and business owners to pay bills during the holidays when there is less traffic congestion
Turnbull said at a Rotary meeting on St. Croix on Tuesday, "Those who collect money must work because we need every cent to keep afloat, " the Daily News reported.
Turnbull once again reported the financial state of the territory was worse than anyone thought. He said the debt would turn out to be much greater than the original $1 billion estimate.
Luis "Tito" Morales, president of the Central Labor Council, told Radio One that Turnbull's work order was against union contracts. He said he would contact Government House on Wednesday to discuss the matter.
