ST. JOHNIAN WINS MISS U.S.V.I. CROWN

Sherece Smith was chosen Sunday night to represent the Virgin Islands at the Miss Universe pageant in May.
Smith, 25, a former Miss St. John, won the Miss U.S.V.I. crown over three other young women.
Smith won the "best of" several categories, including intellect, congeniality, photogenic and evening wear, according to Monday's Daily News.
April Petrus, 25, was the first runner-up. The other contestants were Lynda Ortiz and Carolyn Wattley.
This year's Miss Universe pageant will be in Trinidad and Tobago.
