DELEGATE HAS OUT-PATIENT KNEE SURGERY

V.I. Delegate Donna M. Christian-Christensen received out-patient knee surgery Tuesday to correct an injury she received during a celebrity softball game last August.
"Perhaps if I hadn't swung at the media team's pitch, I wouldn't have twisted my knee," said Christensen, referring to her unexpected base hit against the pitch of the opposing team of Virgin Islands media professionals.
Christensen was released shortly after the procedure and will travel to the territory Wednesday to participate in the Legislature's Economic Summit on Thursday, according to the release from her office.
"Although I will be on crutches, it is very important that I take part in the economic summit to formulate strategies to handle the territory's financial crisis," she said.
The delegate is expected to fully recover and will continue her official duties as scheduled, the release said.
It noted — without explanation — that Sen. Vargrave Richards hosted the softball game in which she was injured, but did not indicate that she holds a political grudge against him for his role in persuading her to play ball.
