WAPA SLATES PUBLIC MEETING

The V.I. Water and Power Authority wants to install a new gas turbine unit at its plant in Krum Bay, and has applied to the Environmental Protection Agency for permits to construct the unit.
There will be a public meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Hibiscus room at the Emerald Beach resort to explain the need for the unit.
The proposed gas turbine, according to a release from WAPA, will meet the agency's load growth needs for the next 10 to 15 years.
The EPA is currently reviewing the Prevention of Significant Deterioration of Air Quality (PSD) permit application.
The application is available for review before the meeting. Anyone interested in examining it has been asked to call 774-3552, extension 2022.
