DELEGATE PLEASED WITH IMPEACHMENT VOTE

V.I. Delegate Donna M. Christian-Christensen expressed satisfaction today at the outcome of the impeachment trial against President Clinton.
“The two verdicts of ‘not guilty’ simply reflect what I and the American people have been saying all along — that the charges brought against the president did not rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors,” Christensen said.
Noting she has consistently expressed her support for the president, Christensen said, "This process has simply been a political attack by adversaries who have been after the president for many years. It is now time for Congress to let President Clinton do his job without further distraction and get back to the business of the American people."
Christensed added, "I pray that President Clinton will have the strength to continue the rest of his term in the strong manner of leadership he has shown and I know that the Virgin Islands community will keep him in its prayers as well.”
