The V.I. Police Department has a theme song, "Don't Run, Don't Hide," written by local musicians Fusion Band for use in the government television channel documentary, "V.I. Cops."
When is the Governor and senators begin to lead by example? First on their agenda should have been a reduction in their salaries and the high paid executives that does nothing but waste money. Get rid of the finacial team. If they are so good, we shouldn't be in the situation we are in now.
Why are they still using the most expensive places to hold meetings? They simply don't get the picture.
They reminds me of the story "The Emperor's New Clothes"
Frankly, you have the audacity to blame Governor John DeJongh for the massive layoffs that are now in play.
Here is one aspect that clearly defines our not so jovial and good tidings attitude for the New Year 2012.
It was your lack of swiftness in meeting very critical deadlines to avoid the massive layoffs.
You, however, did not generate enough revenue to prevent the influx of the impending layoffs.
Out of the $6.9 million dollars that went array, you need to place full page ads in both the Virgin Islands Daily News and The Saint Thomas Source.
My Husband and I are thinking of relocating to St.Thomas, Planning on starting a restaurant/lounge in or near Charlotte Amalie. Can anyone recommend places to live, near beach and some general direction on moving to St.Thomas.
Thank you to the Texas Society of the Virgin Islands and public for turning out to support the many community groups and agencies ,rain or shine! Your generous support helps many in need.
We had a blast working with you again this year and we are looking forward to many more cups of wonderful chili next year(and more aluminum cans for recycling.)
Here's to you for another 27 years! Yee Haw!
Thank you,

WAPA our local electric company is a JOKE! The average price of a kilowatt hour in the US is 11 cents. We just paid 41 cents this month. Even in Hawaii where fuel has to travel 2200 miles (here its 36 miles) the cost is 31 cents. For you boat liveaboards, this means higher costs for drinks, food etc. So no one escapes these costs.
And for all this efficiency, they gave the director a 40% raise last year!!
A few years ago the VI missed an opportunity to sell WAPA to Southern Energy. The reason I heard for the deal not going through: Fear of our electric rates going through the roof.
Its been about about 5 months since the murder of my close relative Shakir Richardson. The police are no closer to finding a suspect. So many things were over looked in the investigation such as his car given back to the family the following day although he was shot outside of his car. How can a thorough investigation of his car be done so soon. Why his family was not questioned about his destination that night to help the police in finding clues about where he went.

The new much larger poles and power lines going down Hull Bay road obstruct the view of Magens Bay and are a real eye sore for everyone in the Virgin Islands. We can not allow them to remain in place! These poles and wires need to be put underground for safety and esthetic reason no matter the cost. We must act now this eye sore cannot remain.

Honorable Governor John deJongh jr
Office of the Governor
Government House 21-22 Kongens Gade
Charlotte Amalie St. Thomas, VI 00802
Dear Governor deJongh jr:
In regards to the very important VI government's ongoing broadband initiative that would allow the issuance of up to $42 million in gross receipts tax bonds to help finance the broadband project, using multiple American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant awards for the territory, I ask that you call the legislature into special session as soon as possible.
Please join the world in conserving our energy at www.earthhour.org or visit our site at http://eastvi.org/projects.html this Saturday night March 27 at 8;30 pm in the Virgin Islands. In the face of climate change, increasing fuel prices, the links between our health concerns and climate change, we ask that you conserve and look to other forms of energy that are renewable and carbon free.Enjoy the stars and heavens during the hour or enjoy the night free of light.
