How To Stop the Growth of Violent Youth Crimes?

How To Stop the Growth of Violent Youth Crimes?

I have heard from several, too many, "Why worry they will only kill off each other."

My response has/had been, it is only a matter of time before someone innocent will get caught in the cross-fire and what happens when they decide to turn on the community.

The way to deal with this cancerous problem is we as a community provide our children with viable engaging alternatives making sure there are no youth aspiring to fill their shoes.

What happened to the Christian proverb, " Idle hands (MINDS) is the Devil's Workshop".

Don't Blame the Children: Look At Their Role Models

Don't Blame the Children: Look At Their Role Models

I remember as a child being told, "Do as I say , not as I do".

So to me this meant that I was to wait until I was old or big enough to do what the adults were doing, which back then there seem to be an understanding that certain things hard working, law abiding, GOD fearing adults would not say or do in the presents of children. The next thing this statement meant to me was not to get caught doing what they did, so when I was with my peers we did what ever we thought we were big enough to do.

Local Playwright's "Eight to Five, Government Workers Style II"
Jul 17, 2010 - 03:07

<p>It's a pity how CCT's Director of the above play is treating the playwright, although they're entertaining a full house for every show. Changes were made in the script without the director consulting or notifying the playwright. A meeting was held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at CCT's establishment, between playwright, director, CCT's president and another CCT board member. The playwright voiced her views on the changes made of which she did not approve, and requested that the Director return the script to the original form, wording, dialogue, in which the playwright presented it to her.

Andre McBean
Jun 7, 2010 - 03:06

Mr.Andre McBean has always been a kind and generous man. When a new sign was needed for My Brother's Table I worked with Mr.McBean to design and execute the sign. It was especially meaningful to me because the center is named in memory of my mother, Viola Otis Steinmann. My brother, Derick Steinmann, who donated the building to help feed the hungry, wanted to honor my mother whose doors were always open to anyone who went hungry. Mr. McBean designed a beautiful sign made out of a thick, beautiful piece of mahogany. He donated the sign to My Brother's Table and refused payment.

Christiansted ByPass
Mar 4, 2010 - 04:03

I just returned home after a wonderful two week visit to my home on St Croix and was horrified to see what has become of the bypass project. Did we really intend to inflict such a massive scar on our island? Where are the "scenic lookouts" over Christiansted? All I can see is a massive gouge through a hill that is ugly and in-efficient (not surprising, most things on island are). Is there even work progressing on this project or has the money dried up? What an uneccessary tragedy this project has become.

FAKE GUNS
Feb 16, 2010 - 12:02

Ilived on St. Thomas for 20 years and for a time I was the only FFL,(federal Firearms License)other than a detective service. There was an occasion when a police officer fired on a teenager who refused to 'drop the gun' he was holding. The officer was in court and I was called as an expert witness. I placed the teenagers "fake" gun and a real one of the same make and model in front of the Judge, and asked if he would pick out the real one without touching either one. He could not, and the case was dismissed.
