The only complaint about the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation (VICF) bike race on Sunday morning was about the state of the roads, but if anyone looked past that, the conditions were right for racing. A very enthusiastic bunch turned out to battle against their competitors in the much anticipated Fredriksted Road Race.

 A mix of local and visiting runners participated in Saturday’s 31st Annual National Library Week’s …Run To Your Library 5K Road Race held in Christiansted.

 The Golden Hook Fishing Club held their 14th Annual Dolphin Tournament on April 13, in St. Croix. Ten boats participated in the tournament, which was sponsored by Poolworks.

Parachute Coney collared Puerto Rican Emblem at mid-stretch and fought the horse to the wire to win the featured eighth race at the Randall “Doc” James racetrack on Sunday.

 Junior Tri VI Splash 'n Dash took place on Sunday, April 14, and was sponsored by the Good Hope School, was a huge success. Nearly 70 competitors, big and small, took part in the swim/run event at Chenay Bay. For the first time there was a parent/child category where the times of the parents and children were combined to see which team was the fastest in each age group.

 The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF) announced on April 18 that a number of V.I. National Track and Field Team members competed in their initial outdoor meets for the 2013 season.

 The Friends of Virgin Islands National Park has announced a series of practice swims to help participants prepare for the upcoming 10th annual Beach-to-Beach Power Swim, which will be held on Sunday, May 26, in the beautiful protected waters of Virgin Islands National Park.

 The Virgin Islands National Swim Team traveled on March 28 to April 3 to compete in the XXVIII CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) Swimming Championships held at the National Stadium Pool in Kingston, Jamaica. The championships are a high-level, regional swim meet offered to English speaking Caribbean countries.

The Easter Bonnet Classics for mares and fillies and the Roger Rabbit Classic for colts and geldings will highlight TRAXCO’s Easter Sunday race card at the Randall “Doc” James Race Track.
