Three events are slated for the opening of the school year – V.I. Fathers Back to School Barbecue and Fun Day on Saturday, Aug. 27; the Back to School Days of Prayer on Saturday , Sept. 3, and Sunday, Sept. 4; and the V.I. Fathers March on Sept. 6, the first day of school for public schools in the territory. Organizers are encouraging fathers to take their children back to school starting on the first day.

Virgin Islands Energy Office Blast for April

Students representing eight territorial high schools brought nine home-made wind turbines to Charlotte Amalie High School to see whose could produce the most electricity. This was all part of the Kidwind Project, which is affiliated with a national program.
Also, every fourth grader in the territory who attends a public school got a presentation on energy during Energy Education Week. The presentation covered three main areas: (1) How do we make electricity? (2) Renewable and non-renewable energy and (3) the advantages and disadvantages of different energy sources

Energy Development in Island Nations Projects Officially Ends

The Energy Development in Island Nations (EDIN) global partnership initiative, which kicked off in the Virgin Islands in February 2010, is officially over. Karl Knight, director of the V.I. Energy Office, made the announcement during the 7th EDIN-USVI Clean Energy Conference on St. Thomas on Dec. 12.
