DOH to Host Zika Public Forums

In response to the rise in Zika cases in the territory and the recent discovery that Zika can be sexually transmitted by both men and women, the V.I. Department of Health (VIDOH) is sponsoring two Zika public forums, one in each district.

V.I.’s Julius Jackson Loses to Opponent Odom in Third Round

After dominating for two rounds Friday against opponent Jerry Odom, 340 Boxing champ Julius Jackson (19-2, 15 KOs) got caught with a right to the head that left him unable to continue, allowing Odom to win the bout by technical knockout 1:54 into the third round.

SPRINT OFFERING CELLULAR PHONE SERVICE IN V.I.

Sprint, one of the territory's long-distance carriers, announced Thursday, March 7, that it now is providing cellular telephone service throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands, with a variety of packages available to customers.

NEW JOBLESS TAX RATES NOT COMPUTED YET

By law, the Labor Department was to change the territory's unemployment tax rate structure on Jan. 1. However, employers won't learn what the new rates are until at least the end of February, because necessary changes to the computer system have not been completed, a Labor Department spokeswoman said.
