'Manchurian Candidate' Good Escapist Fare (Right?)

If you're not into conspiracy theories, "The Manchurian Candidate" should keep you on the edge of your seat but let you sleep like a baby when you get back home. But if you believe that they are scheming to take over the world, then you may end up with a nightmare or two, although nothing of the magnitude of the recurring ones that afflict the film's hero.

Kudos for a 'Terminal' Case of Cinematic Simplicity

In lesser hands "The Terminal" could have been contrived cinema at its worst. But with Steven Spielberg calling the shots and Tom Hanks playing it as straight and simple as Jimmy Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life," the movie about a man without a country confined indefinitely to the International Terminal at JFK left even screen scribe Roger Ebert unreasonably happy."

Such a Tangled Web This Spidey Weaves

"Hidalgo" is the American mustang that was entered in the 1890 Ocean of Fire, a 3,000-mile survival race across the Arabian desert.
