WCSC’s 25th Annual Tennis Classic Begins

 The Women’s Coalition of St. Croix (WCSC) kicks off the 25th anniversary of its annual Tennis Classic to be held from Wednesday, April 19 to Sunday, April 23. This year's tournament continues the tradition of several categories of single elimination play: Men’s Doubles A, B, 50 and over; Women’s Doubles A, B, 50 and over, and Mixed A, B and C Doubles, including junior players. The deadline for registration is Monday, April 17, at the host site, which is The Buccaneer Tennis Club. To register, call The Buccaneer Tennis Club. The Awards Reception will be held on Sunday, April 23, at The Mermaid Restaurant.

The Virgin Islands Conservation Society and other organizations invite the community to participate in a USVI Earth Day March and Celebration to be held on St. Thomas and St. Croix. The march is one of three events organized for Washington, D.C. and hundreds of other communities across the country.  Earth Day marches, science talks and demonstrations, kite contests, poster contests and much more.

DVSAC, STX Jeep Club Motorcade

The V.I. Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council (DVSAC) will be partnering with the STX Jeep Club for a first-time Sexual Assault Awareness Month motorcade. Come out and support victims, the community and the collaborative efforts of DVSAC and STX Jeep Club.

DVSAC, Jeep Club Motorcade

DVSAC and the St. Croix Jeep Club have partnered to engage men with the first Sexual Assault Awareness Month Motorcade.  It will start at the DVSAC Headquarters in Sion Farm and will make rounds through Christiansted Town, the Sunny Isles Intersection and Frederiksted Town. The event will commence at the DVSAC office where awareness materials and resources will be available at the DVSAC office at the beginning of the motorcade. Men are asked to please join DVSAC and the Club and bring their sons! Young men, bring fathers and uncles, and even earn community service hours, too. Ladies are welcome to join in.

VING: Easter/ Earth Day Event

Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) Family Readiness Groups (FRGs) will host an Easter/Earth Day family activity. The event is designed to build esprit de corps between units and to maintain family balance and readiness. In addition, it recognizes the importance of the environment. The Easter Extravaganza is for military beneficiaries and dependents. On St. Croix, the 662nd Engineer Company and the 285th Civil Engineering Squadron will join Family Readiness Groups to host the Easter Extravaganza at The Ruins recreational area on the Estate Bethlehem Military Compound.

V.I. Cannabis Inc. to Hold Festival

Some Virgin Islands residents want to see the medicinal and recreational use of marijuana legalized. One group, V.I. Cannabis Inc., will be holding a V.I. Heal the World Earth Day Block Festival to highlight legalization efforts. There will be free live entertainment that will include DJ Hilltop Sounds, Mercy Child; Jahnee Redlocks and Da Tre A We, and Batch and the Sankofa Band. There will be educational material about marijuana available. The goal of the festival is to educate and advocate for the legalization of cannabis in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
