Special Naturalization Ceremony

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will hold a special naturalization ceremony to celebrate Transfer Day. Attendees will witness 100 new citizens take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States. USCIS encourages new citizens and guests to share their naturalization ceremony experiences and photos through social media, using the hashtag #newUScitizen.

V.I. National Park Unveils Transfer Day Exhibit

In celebration of the Transfer Day Centennial in the U.S. Virgin Islands, a new exhibit will open at the Cinnamon Bay Archaeology. V.I. National Park invites the public to join a celebration of the Transfer of the Virgin Islands from Denmark to the United States that took place 100 years ago. The exhibit highlights the many flags that have flown over what is now the U.S. Virgin Islands. Park staff will be on hand to discuss the history of the islands through time. 2nd Special Naturalization Ceremony

Legislature Invites Public to Centennial Events

Senate President Myron D. Jackson and members of the 32nd Legislature are inviting the community to witness an historic commemoration of the territory’s first 100 years under the American flag. Dignitaries from Denmark, the United States, Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands, Virgin Islands of the United States, other Caribbean countries, as well as visitors and residents, will witness presentations and performances from notable scholars, dancers, singers, actors, poets and politicians. The events will begin at 2 p.m., Friday, March 31, with the Virgin Islands National Guard 73rd Army Band leading a military parade that will begin at Addelita Cancryn Jr. H.S.   The official observance will begin at 3 p.m. on the Capitol Grounds. There will be live performances as well.

Jazz in the Park

“Jazz in the Park” will be held Transfer Day. Immediately following the concert, there will be a fireworks display sponsored by the St. Croix Christmas Boat Parade. The Community Music Band will feature Eddie Russell on trumpet, keyboard and vocals; Kent Moorehead on trumpet; David Bess on trumpet and percussion; Steven Walcott on flugabone; Junie Bomba on congas; Afra Dailey on drums; Lennox Joseph on guitar; Mario Thomas on bass guitar; and Melinda DeRocker, vocalist.

CCT Opens Comedy ‘The Art of Dining’

Caribbean Community Theatre is continuing its 32nd season with “The Art of Dining,” a comedy by award-winning playwright Tina Howe.  Directed by Charles Jaquays, there will be seven performances over three weekends. Tickets are $20 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students and CCT members. They can be purchased at the CCT box office prior to each show or in advance online.
