Shootings Force Early End to J'Ouvert

On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.

Tax Return

Here is a question. Has anyone else besides me not received their 2010 Tax Return as yet. Yes, that is 2010 not 2011. By the way I am getting ready to file my 2011 taxes very soon. I have contacted the tax office a number of times and up to this day, February 29, 2012 I have not been able to get a definitive answer as to the status. Last two time I call I received the same reply, which was "I cannot give you an answer, I have to look for something, give me your phone number and I will call you back." You read correctly, the last two times, which were three weeks apart. Apparently no effort was made to find what needed to be found or no return call was made. Now as before I will wait another three weeks and I will call again. In the meantime I hope some one will read this and perhaps reply with anything they might have on the topic.

Incidentally, I am off islands and filed my taxes by Certified mail.

They are ready to cut the checks. I confimed that mine is on the list for the next run. But the yearly appropriation that is used only to pay tax refunds ($30 million) has not been transferred to the IRB account since they government is broke.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know that you were able to get confirmation on the status of your return. I on the other hand seemed to have hit a stone wall twice and am still without an answer regarding my return. I would have been content with an, it's being processed or we forgot anything other than they don't have an answer for me especially since it was evident that the person I spoke to had pulled up some information. Which as I said I would have gladly accepted the truth after all we are human. Anyhow, they have my phone number so I will wait and see.

I would certainly appreciate any feedback especially since I am overseas.
