LBJ Sewer Force Main Project, Phases 2 : The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises St. Croix residents of…
On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.
The new much larger poles and power lines going down Hull Bay road obstruct the view of Magens Bay and are a real eye sore for everyone in the Virgin Islands. We can not allow them to remain in place! These poles and wires need to be put underground for safety and esthetic reason no matter the cost. We must act now this eye sore cannot remain.
Well, burying the poles and power lines on Hull Bay road is a good idea, however at this time, WAPA is in the red. It would take funding that WAPA does not have at the moment. So, until the company can come up with additional funds then those eyesores will remain in effect. Above ground is cost-effective as opposed to burying the lines;it is a very expensive undertaking. Hopefully, the company can get assistance from the federal government to make that happen. It is sad though to hear that the poles and lines have obstructed the magnificient view of the famous Magens Bay.
Thanks for the thoughtful reply and your suggestion that federal funds may one day be available for such a project gives me hope.
