Date of death – Jan. 9

Officers responding to reports of gunfire at 4:44 a.m. at the Eclipse Nightclub in Vitraco Park Mall found three gunshot victims. According to the preliminary report, during the altercation two gun shots were fired and the first victim fell to the ground. He was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he died during surgery. The second victim allegedly started firing random shots towards the night club shortly after. The security officer on duty returned fire and struck the victim, who succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The third man received a non-fatal wound.

At 1:29 p.m., officers responded to the call of gunfire having been discharged in Agnes Fancy. At the location, they found the first victim, Stephen Coleman, lying prone in the roadway and the second victim, Heidi Mills, also lying on the ground. Coleman had sustained a gunshot wound to the head along with several shots to his upper torso, and was pronounced dead on the scene. The woman had also been shot in the head and received a second gunshot wound to her lower-left leg. She was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and listed in serious condition

Tishawn Samuel, a 24-year-old resident of the Walter IM Hodge Pavilion Housing Community, was shot and killed Thursday night in Estate Camp Rico. Officers were alerted to a report of gunfire in Estate Campo Rico at 9:57 p.m. Officers responding to an area within the estate called "The Turf" found Samuel’s body, riddled with multiple gunshot wounds, lying on the ground. Emergency medical technicians examined the body and found no signs of life.

Heidi Mills, who was injured by gunshot Jan. 20 in Estate Agnes Fancy, died of her wounds three days later at the Schneider Regional Medical Center. Officers responded to a report of gunfire discharged at the location they found the body of Stephen Coleman lying prone in the roadway. Mills, who also was lying on the ground, was heard moaning, police said. She had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and one to the lower portion of her left leg. She was transported to the hospital for treatment, listed in serious condition, and died Saturday.

The body of a man who had received multiple gunshot wounds was found in Estate Wintberg. Police did not release the name of the victim. At 10:29 p.m. the 911 emergency call center received a report of a victim in the vicinity of Estate Wintberg. Officers responding to the scene found an unresponsive Hispanic male along the roadside. The victim appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Juan Encarnacion, a 30-year-old resident of Estate White Lady, died after being shot at about 7:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the H&R Grocery Store on Queen Street in Frederiksted. Officers responding to the scene were told the victim had been transported by a private vehicle to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital emergency room. At the hospital, officers were unable to speak with the victim because he was unconscious and being tended to by medical personnel.

The body of a man who had received multiple gunshot wounds was found in Estate Wintberg. Police did not release the name of the victim. Officers responding to the scene of a 10:29 p.m. 911 call found an unresponsive Hispanic male along the roadside. The victim appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jeffrey Velasquez, of the Honduras area in Frenchtown, was killed around 9:51 p.m. Responding officers found the 24-year-old Velasquez lying motionless on the ground at the east of Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body.

The Virgin Islands Police Department promised Saturday a "fair, impartial, and thorough investigation" after a man died after being injured in an encounter with officers. The victim was identified as Evan Ezekiel Joseph, 38 of Altona on St. Thomas. According to police, the 911 center received a call at about 11:33 a.m. reporting shots fired in the area of Simmonds Alley. Several citizens told responding officers that a black man in the vicinity of Simmonds Alley fired several gunshots. After receiving a detailed description of the suspect, the officers found an individual fitting the description. According to the police, "During an encounter with officers, the suspect was injured and received medical treatment after being transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries sustained during this incident."

An argument that resulted in gunfire left 30-year-old Conrad Phipps of Concordia bleeding to death in Market Street, the V.I. Police Department reported. Responding to a report of gunfire discharged in the area of Market Street, officers and detectives found Phipps lying in the gutter. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical technicians transported the victim to the Juan Luis Hospital Emergency Room where he died. According to the preliminary investigation, Phipps had gotten into an argument and was shot by an unknown suspect.

Kishawn Fleming, 23, was shot and killed in Savan. At about 3:50 a.m. Tuesday police responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male on Regerrings Gade, in the vicinity of Savan. Arriving at the scene, officers found an African-American man lying motionless near the side of the road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body. Emergency medical technicians indicated that the victim showed no signs of life and pronounced him dead on the scene.

Police responded at 1:45 a.m. Sunday to a reported shooting and spoke to the victim, Hans Oliver, 38, at the Schneider Regional Medical Center. Oliver had been shot multiple times on Brookman Road and succumbed to his injuries at 8:30 a.m.

Two brothers, 33-year old Kayan Payne and 29-year-old Kanta Payne, of Estate Grove Place, were shot and killed while playing dice in the area of the Harmony Grocery Store in the Christiansted’s Water Gut area at about 5 p.m. A third victim sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. According to police, the victims were playing dominoes in the vicinity of the grocery store when a man sitting in a red SUV backed up towards the victims, got out of the vehicle and started shooting. The suspect then fled the area in the vehicle.

At approximately 10:26 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man having been shot in the vicinity of Sanchez Town in Bovoni. Officers found the body of an unresponsive black man who’d sustained a single gunshot wound, on the floor of the Green Bar. The emergency medical technicians on the scene said the victim showed no signs of life. The victim was identified by next of kin as Calvin Garvey, 35

Lekeitha Toya Crabtree, a 41-year-old resident of Contant Knolls, died of wounds suffered in what police said was an altercation with an unknown male. Officers were dispatched at about 5 a.m. Wednesday to the area of the Gottlieb Quick Way Gas Station in Contant in regards to a reported disturbance in the area. Arriving at the scene, the officers made contact with what was described as "a combative black female" on the ground just outside of the convenience store. The woman was bleeding from the head with abrasions about the body as a result of an altercation with an unknown male. The woman, identified as Crabtree, appeared to be under the influence, police said. She again became combative, police said, and was subdued and restrained by the officers. Crabtree began to experience "some type of medical complication," according to the report, and the emergency medical technicians examined and transported the victim to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for medical attention, and she died en route.

Joseph DuCreay, a 19-year-old from Dominica, was shot and killed in the vicinity of Anna’s Retreat. At about 6:04 p.m. officers received a report of a possible shooting victim at Annas Retreat. Arriving at the scene, officers found a black man in a green SUV. The man, later identified as DuCreay, had been shot multiple times, police said.

The 911 center received a call at 11:08 p.m. reporting gunfire in the vicinity of the Ruby Housing Community, located in the Water Gut area. Officers traveled to the scene and found an unresponsive male lying on the ground of Building 3 Ruby Housing Community. Emergency medical technicians arrived at the scene and found no signs of life in the victim, who was later identified as Luis Vergas, a 24-year-old resident of the housing community.

The 911 emergency center received a call at 1:26 a.m. reporting an unresponsive black male lying face down between buildings 7 and 8 in Kirwan Terrace. Arriving at the scene, officer’s found an unresponsive victim, identified as 22-year-old Javan Benjamin of Estate Hope, lying motionless face down on the ground. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body. The emergency medical technicians that responded to the call indicated that the victim showed no vital signs and pronounced him dead on the scene.

25-year-old Sehdale Gabriel of Savan, was killed May 1 when he was one of three people shot early in the morning at the St. Thomas Carnival Village. According to police, the three victims were behind Carnival booths number 33 and 1 and Gabriel was eerging from the restroom when the shots were fired at 2:37 a.m. He was taken to the Shcneider Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead at about 4:45 a.m.

Vershawn Monsanto, 21, of the Paul M. Pearson Garden Housing Community was gunned down in the vicinity of the Wheatly Center. At 2:10 p.m. police officers responded to a report of shots fired and from the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where a patient was being treated for a gunshot wound. He was shot in the right side of his chest and the bullet exited through his back. Due to the severity of his wound, he was rushed into surgery and died of his injury at 4:32 p.m.

Shaki Alexander, 21, of Hidden Valley and Kerven Joseph were killed in a drive-by shooting in the area of Anna’s Retreat. According to the police report, at 10:33 p.m. the 911 center received a report of shots being fired in the area of the Holy Family Church. Preliminary investigation showed that Alexander and Joseph were walking in the vicinity of Anna’s Retreat when an unknown vehicle pulled up and fired multiple shots towards them, striking both men.

An unidentified man was found shot dead at Fortuna Beach. The V.I. Police Department received reports of shots fired just before 9 p.m. on June 6. Upon arrival to the scene, officers found an unresponsive Hispanic man lying face up and wearing a blue “Air Jordan” T-shirt, denim shorts, black socks and sneakers. He was lying on the sand and officers saw what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Police received a call at 911 just after midnight of shots fired around Fort Miliner. Officers responding to the scene found a Toyota sedan at the bottom of Raphune Hill with two victims inside, both of whom had been shot multiple times. Jafari Samuel died of his wounds at Schneider Regional Medical Center.

At 3:28 p.m., residents in the Hidden Valley area called police about shots being fired. Responding officers found 22-year-old Ojahnia Adkins lying on the stairs of one of the Hidden Valley apartment buildings. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical technicians. Police spokesman Glen Dratte said it appears Adkins was killed after getting in an argument with someone he knew from the area.

The 911 call center received a report of "a man down" at approximately 5:44 a.m. in the area of Tutu High Rise Building. Responding officers found an unresponsive black man identified by next of kin as 42-year-old Devon Freeman Sr. of Tutu High Rise Building. He was was pronounced dead on the scene by responding emergency medical technicians.

At about 11:03 p.m. several citizens called the 911 emergency center and reported shots fired in the area of First Stop Gas Station in Estate Thomas. Responding officers found an unresponsive black male, identified as 22-year-old Caseam Daniel, who appeared to have been shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries.

Timothy Urgent, 20 of St. Croix, was killed and a teenager wounded in a drive-by shooting. Saturday night in the Clifton Hill area, the V.I. Police Department reported. According to police, several people were on the porch of a residence when a vehicle drove up and began shooting, striking Urgent and a 16-year-old male. A private vehicle transported the victims to the emergency room at Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital, where Urgent succumbed to his injuries.

Malik Benjamin and Yahfari Brodhurst, both 18 years old, were killed and four others injured in a drive-by shooting in the Altona Lagoon area, the second drive-by shooting on St. Croix in as many nights. According the the preliminary investigation a party was taking place at the lagoon when an unknown vehicle drove by and starting shooting.

   Marquise Benjamin, age 20, was found shot dead in Estate Concordia when police responded to reports of shots fired.

   Police found Ralph Skerrit, 63, sitting in his truck, in Estate Glynn, with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, around 8:14 p.m.  There were shell casings around the vehicle. No witnesses or other evidence were found at the time. He was taken to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he died.

20-year-old Bria Evans was struck by a stray bullet at about 3 a.m. outside a Charlotte Amalie nightclub and died of her injury. Police doing routine patrols were on the scene and rendered emergency care until emergency medical technicians arrived. She was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her wound.

Two off-duty police officers, Lesha Lammy, 30, and Kai Javoi, 28, were found shot to death on a Frederiksted beach at a Ham’s Bluff beach on the northwest side of the island following a 911 call around 1 p.m.

Gregory Benson Louis, 50, a supervisor at the Hotel Company fire station in Charlotte Amalie, was shot and killed while seated on a bench outside the fire station. He was shot in the back of the head at about 7:30 p.m. and declared dead on the scene by emergency medical technicians.

The body of 32-year-old Sean Javois was found at around 8:30 p.m. when police responded to a report of shots fired and a man down in the vicinity of of Hill Street in Christiansted. Officers found a man, later identified as Javois, lying on the ground with several bullet wounds on his back, chest and neck, and no vital signs.

Jamal Meade, 26, was shot and killed sometime between 7 and 8 p.m. near the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency on Moravian Highway.  A woman was also shot in the incident. Mead was declared dead at the scene.

A badly charred body was found in a burnt car in the Fortuna area near Stumpy Bay. The car was determined to have been a stolen Jeep Wrangler rental. The body of the individual could not be readily determined because of the condition of the vehicle and remains.

De’Jani Chitolie, 23 of St. Thomas, was shot several times Nov. 7 and on Nov. 8 died of his injuries. Police officers responded to a report of gunfire at approximately 4:54 p.m. in the Subbase area, then to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where Chitolie had been transferred. He was unresponsive when officers arrived at the hospital.

Police responding to a 7:15 p.m. report of a body in the Bournefield area discovered the body of 30-year-old Myron Royer, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, the V.I. Police Department reported. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical technicians.

17-month-old Layla Paulino was killed when shots were fired as her parents were driving her home around 9:44 p.m. The girl, who was being held by her mother, was struck in the chest and died at Schneider Regional Medical Center, while the male driver of the car, her stepfather, was treated for a gunshot wound to the thigh.

At approximately 8:24 a.m., police received a call from one Jennifer Brathwaite that her mentally ill son was beating on her. The call was then disconnected. Upon police arriving on the scene, the body of Brathwaite was discovered in the apartment she shared with her son, Craig Francis, who was arrested.
