St. Croix Man Robbed and Shot

A 25-year-old resident of the Harrigan Court Housing Community was robbed and shot Friday evening while walking his dog, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At 7:56 p.m. Friday an off-duty police officer at the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital radioed to the 911 dispatcher that a man with a gunshot wound had arrived in a private vehicle and was being treated in the hospital’s emergency room.

The man told responding officers and detectives he had been walking his dog in the Fleming Circle area when he was approached by two armed black males in a blue colored vehicle. The suspects took his mobile phone and $30 in cash, shot him in his foot and left the area.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, sustained a gunshot wound to the instep of his right foot. He was unable to give any further description of the suspects.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the matter.
