At 2:56 a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to a call of a burglary at the King Christian Hotel. When the officers arrived at the hotel they were met by the hotel’s security guard, who told them a guest had reported an intruder in his room.
The victim, whose name was not released by authorities, told the officers he’d fallen asleep at roughly 11 p.m. Tuesday and was awoken by a presence in his room at 2:46 a.m. He said saw the silhouette of an unknown man standing in the northeast corner of his bedroom. The intruder was approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, but the victim was unable to give any other description.
The victim said he told the intruder to “get out of here” and the suspect ran out of the room and jumped over the northern porch, facing a wall.
The victim said that nothing was taken from the room and that he was unhurt in the incident. Officers scoured the area of downtown Christiansted with no results.
The incident is being investigated by members of the Forensic Unit and the Investigation Bureau.
