Man Charged with Assault on Restaurant Employee

St. Croix police arrested Paul J. Ramsden Jr. and charged him with assault and battery Monday, according to the V.I. Police Department. Police said he and another individual assaulted a husband and wife on May 4 at the Asia Restaurant in Villa La Reine Shopping Center. Police said the investigation into this case is still ongoing and another suspect is being sought.

Police said the female victim, who worked at the restaurant, was discussing certain payments she believed are owed to her with the owners of the business. Her husband was with her at that time. During the discussion, Ramsden and another man allegedly came into the room, and after a short time, began punching the victims, the initial police report said.

The woman was taken to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment of bruises on her upper body and cuts to her face.

Ramsden was arrested around 8 a.m. Monday and held on a $1,000 bail. Police said another suspect is being sought in this case.
