Victims from Christiansted Fire Identified

Police on St. Croix have identified the bodies of a male and female, who were found dead on Jan. 2, in an abandoned building in Christiansted following a structural fire.

The deceased were identified as 47-year-old Milagros Chaparro, also known as “Wanda,” and 44-year-old Titus Julien.

Police discovered the unresponsive bodies in the bathroom of the building after firefighters extinguished the blaze. According to Emergency Medical Technicians, there were no obvious signs of trauma, and the pair had no vital signs.

Police said Julien and Chaparro may have been homeless and living in the abandoned building.

The case is still active and under investigation.
