V.I. Cycling Federation Holds First Race of 2015

David Parris and Scott Fricks before the Season Prologue raceThe Virgin Islands Cycling Federation held its first race of the new year, the Season Prologue, which took place on Saturday morning on the South Shore Road. A small group of local cyclists raced the clock from Junie’s Bar to the former Café Kaleidoscope in an 8-mile pursuit of the fastest time.
Expert category rider Eddie Nolan posted the fastest time of 17 minutes, 33 seconds (17:33), which was 4 seconds faster than the winner last year. Category companion Scott Fricks posted the second fastest time of 19:00. David Parris, a rider in the Elite category, was third overall.
The next race on the schedule is the La Grange Circuit race, which will take place at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8. For more information about cycling in the V.I., call 332-6282.
