Vikings Spank Dominicanos, 40-Plus Hurricanes Surprise Yankees

The Vikings whipped the Dominicanos, 12-5, and the 40-plus Hurricanes surprised the league leading and defending champion Yankees, 8-5, in the Rafael Jackson AA Baseball League Sunday’s action at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park. It was a fitting comeback for the Over-40 Hurricanes, the old men of the league, who were thumped 17-3 in their last encounter.

Reliever Shaun Matos mops up with the Vikings' victory, 12-5 over the Dominicanos.

Vikings 12, Dominicanos 5

The Vikings scored all the runs they would need, 6, in the first inning on their way to 12-5 thrashing of the Dominicanos in game one on Sunday. They then turned things over to starting pitcher Jahmoy William, who allowed just two runs on two hits in his five innings of work. He left the game with a 12-2 lead, turning things over to reliever Shaun Matos for mop up duties. It was the Vikings with 12 runs on 11 hits and 3 errors, while the Dominicanos finished with 5 runs on 4 hits and 2 errors. Williams got the win on the hill for the Vikings while Daniel Franco got the loss. Top batter for the winners were Arthur Canaii, 2 for 3 with a home run and 1 RBI; Ajani Dowdy, 2 for 4 with 1 RBI; and Matos, 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs.
