Anchor Dive, Set It Off, and the National Guard Hummers were Monday night’s winners in the Bob Owens slow Pitch Softball League at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park. Anchor Dive got back on the winning track with a 19-10 victory over the Cartel, Set It Off rocked the Coolers, 20-9, and the Hummers outlasted the Enforcers, 9-3, in the late game.

Anchor Dive 19, Cartel 10

Anchor Dive, after being shut out in their last contest, exploded for 19 runs on their way to a 19-10 thumping of the Cartel. It was Anchor Dive with 19 runs on 23 hits and four errors, while the Cartel finished with 10 runs on 13 hits and one error. Edwin Sankitts got the win on the hill and James Smith got the loss. Top batters for the winners were Luis Colon, Tafari Carter, and David Wiz, (all 3 for 4). For the Cartel, Anthon Cannier was 4 for 4 with two home runs, Dexter Skepple 2 for 4 with one home run, and Reginald Pigott was 2 for 4.

Set It Off 20, Coolers 9

Set It Off proved too hot for the Coolers as they were burned 20-9 in a 10-run mercy-ruled contest. Set It Off exploded for 20 runs on 23 hits and three errors, while the Coolers had nine runs on 13 hits. Julio Carmona got the win on the hill for Set It Off, while Dexter DeSousa got the loss. Top batters for the winners were David Samuel, 4 for 4 with three home runs; Juan Santana, 3 for 4 with two home runs; and Toni Piguero, 3 for 3 with one home run. For the Coolers, Thomas Corcino was 2 for 2, Spencer Hendrickson 2 for 3 with a home run, and Dwayne Harvey was 2 for 3.

Hummers 9, Enforcers 3

Hummers’ ace, Roy Vialet, allowed just three runs as he pitched his squad to a 9-3 victory over the Enforcers in Monday’s nightcap. It was the Hummers with nine runs on 11 hits and one error, while the Enforcers finished with three runs on 11 hits and two errors. Jason Roberts got the loss for the Enforcers. Top batters for the Hummers were Dushane Brown, 2 for 3 with two home runs; Kai Schjang, 1 for 2 with one home run; and Neal Davis was 2 for 3. For the Enforcers Brandon Rausch was 2 for 4; Dave Wentz and Max Soto were both 2 for 3.
