If you have an opinion on the Tourism Department’s five-year development plan, the department wants to hear from you, Tourism announced in a press release Wednesday.

"The future of the Virgin Islands is collectively our responsibility," Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson Doty said, “so it is crucial for all stakeholders to be involved in the process of creating this valuable road map.”

In an effort to include stakeholders in the design of the five-year rolling tourism development plan, the department in March organized 16 strategic visioning sessions to seek ideas and recommendations from the community on a wide range of topics relating to the tourism industry.

Community input gathered from both the live and televised sessions will be incorporated into the design of a draft strategic plan and reviewed at a planned Governor's Conference on Tourism. The date has not been announced.

Those visioning sessions are available for viewing at www.usvitourismplan.com and on Innovative’s cable television government access channels, Channel 10 on St. Thomas and St. John and Channel 6 on St. Croix.

The press release suggested that televised segments offer those both in the Virgin Islands, and elsewhere with ties to the area, a chance to participate in a productive dialogue on the future of tourism in the territory.
