Man Gets Prison Term for Firearm Charges

Senior District Court Judge Raymond Finch on Thursday sentenced Mario Felix, 22, to three years in prison for unauthorized possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Finch also sentenced Felix to two years in prison for possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, to run concurrently with the three-year term, and three years of supervised release.

In February, Felix pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and unauthorized possession of a firearm. According to the plea documents filed in court, Felix admitted to ownership of a .40 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number, which was seized during the execution of a search warrant in Building 31 at the John F. Kennedy Housing Community, in February 2011.

The case was investigated by the V.I. Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alphonso Andrews.
