DOL Plans Workforce Development Expo

The Department of Labor will host a Workforce Development Expo. In recognition of the number of persons who continue to seek sustainable employment in the community, it is continuing its efforts to assist job seekers to prepare themselves to return to the workforce, according to a press release issued on Friday by the DOL.
DOL will host the expo at the University of the Virgin Islands (Great Hall) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, on St. Croix. The event will be repeated on St. Thomas at the Windward Passage Hotel on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
This expo is intended to highlight the characteristics and preparation needed for job seekers to successfully navigate their career, whether it is just beginning, was unexpectedly interrupted or has stagnated. It will feature presentations from Human Resources (HR) professionals, who will speak about what goes into securing employment, how to hold on to great employment opportunities, how to rebound after a setback and, most importantly, how to grow within an organization and enhance its worth.
An invitation to HR professionals is extended as they encounter job seekers daily and have firsthand knowledge of what is needed to find employment success. Local employers will be on site to provide information about their organizations and current vacancies. Most importantly, this opportunity will allow participants to hear directly from employers about how they can prepare themselves for anticipated vacancies that may become available in the future.
