Volunteers Needed to Help With USDA Commodities Distribution to the Needy

The State Office of Special Nutrition Programs is seeking volunteers to assist with packing, lifting and other duties related to the distribution of USDA commodities to the needy in the territory, according to a press release issued Thursday by the V.I. Department of Education.
Community assistance is needed at Charles H. Emanuel Schoolon St. Croix beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22, for pre-packaging, and from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, for distribution of commodities.
In the St. Thomas-St. John district, volunteers are needed at Lockhart Elementary School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 29, for pre-packaging, and from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1, to assist with commodities distribution.
Interested residents should contact Special Nutrition Director Angela Frett at 774-0100, ext: 2812 by Monday, June 18, to assist with distribution on St. Croix, and by Monday,June 25, for distribution in the St. Thomas-St. John district.
