Students to Perform in ‘Revival of Quadrille in Our Schools’ at Fort Frederik

Students from the territory’s schools will be promenading on the grounds of Fort Frederik to quelbe, the official music of the Virgin Islands, during a “Revival of Quadrille in Our Schools”celebration scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 27. Participating schools and youth groups will include Elena L. Christian Jr. High (ECJH), Pearl B. Larsen Elementary, Alfredo Andrews Elementary, Juanita Gardine Elementary and the Emancipation Dancers from St. Croix, and the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School FlamboCombo from St. Thomas.
Melodious sounds will come from the instruments of the Quelbe Ambassadors and Stanleyand the Ten Sleepless Knights to keep the youthful performers in step with the traditional music of the islands. Following the revival, the audience will get the chance to brush up on their dancing steps during a grand quadrille party from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission for the entire celebration is only $5 for adults and $2 for students.
