Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Awards Three Scholarships

The St. Croix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. has announced the recipients of its annual Rita Weber Scholarships, which are awarded annually to three St. Croix high school seniors from public, private and parochial schools who have been accepted to a college or university. The scholarship is named in honor of the late Rita Weber, a charter member of the St. Croix Alumnae Chapter. The 2016-2017 recipients are Estelle E. Jules, Brianna Primus and Emily Rosado.
Jules, 17 years old, is an honors graduate of St. Joseph High School. She served as her graduating class vice president, and as secretary and activities coordinator of Rising Movers in Faith at her church. A University of the Virgin Islands University Bound Program participant, Jules has her goals set on working in the air transportation industry and will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Primus, 18 years old, is an honors graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex High School. She was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and a teacher’s aide at the Community United Method School. Primus, whose favorite subjects include psychology and biology, will attend Barry University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Rosado is an 18-year old graduate of St. Croix Central High School. She has excelled in varsity athletics and demonstrated her leadership ability, serving as varsity team manager. Rosado describes herself as “passionate” about building a career in the hospitality industry. She is attending UVI and majoring in hospitality and tourism management.
“Best wishes and great success to St. Croix high school graduates, particularly students who participated in our 2016-2017 scholarship search, as they advance toward academic and career accomplishments. Congratulations to Ms. Jules, Ms. Primus and Ms. Rosado; as you face new challenges, we encourage you to be remarkable,” said Sandra L. Setorie, St. Croix alumnae chapter president.
