St. George Village Botanical Garden Schedules Events

The following are various events planned by the St. George Village Botanical Garden.
Yoga at the Garden with Sarah Stamper at 9 a.m. every Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. every Saturday. The cost for garden members is $7/non members $10. Call the SGVBG at 692-2874 for more information.
Lunch at the garden will be resumed at an undetermined date. These wonderful lunches are usually twice a month at the St. George Village Botanical Garden and are prepared by the culinary students from St. Croix Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC). Your participation helps to support the efforts of these students, and provides an opportunity to enjoy a specially prepared lunch in the Pavilion of the Visitors’ Center surrounded by the beautiful garden. The cost is $20 for garden members/ $25 non-members.
Sunday, Oct. 7 The 3rd Annual Fall Heritage Festival will be held from noon to 4 p.m. The festival is in recognition of the history of St. George and remembrance of those individuals who lived and worked here. There will be historical presentations, craft demonstrations, music, food and more. Adults $5/Children $2. Call the SGVBG at 692-2874 for more information.
Monday, Oct. 29 Gardens by Moonlight will take place from 7-10 p.m. Enjoy wine, cheese and hors d’oeuvres while listening to live music in the garden illuminated by moonlight and perfumed by night blooming flowers. There will be garden tours with David Hamada. The cost for members is $25/non-members $40. Reservations are essential. Call the SGVBG at 692-2874 for more information.
Saturday, Nov. 3 The classic movie "Somewhere in Time" will be shown at Government House, hosted by First Lady Cecile deJongh. This is in conjunction with St. George Village Botanical Garden’s Dec. 7th "Somewhere in Time Gala." Call the SGVBG at 692-2874 for more information.
Second Saturdays: Sept. 8, Oct 13 and Nov 10 Forchildren ages 6 and up and parent/guardian, Second Saturdays is a monthly activity during which parents and children explore the history and plants of the St. George Village Botanical Garden together. These three-hour workshops are presented on the second Saturday of each month.
Grow and Learn Workshops: Sept. 22, Oct 27 and Nov 24. Grow and Learn is a monthly presentation for adults on topics related to local culture, history, horticulture and botany. These two-hour sessions are presented on the third Friday of each month and are presented by local authorities, experts and enthusiasts.
Story Hours: Oct. 6 and 17, and Nov. 3 and 21 StoryHour is presented twice monthly for pre-school children and their parent(s) and/or guardian(s). Children and adults gather on blankets under the kapok tree on the Great Lawn. Volunteer storytellers have included prominent professionals Cecile DeJongh and Cheryl Francis. These readers engage the audience with interactive learning and appropriate activities relating to the story. We have collaborated with the Florence Williams Library to regularly bring their Bookmobile to Story Hour so children may have the opportunity to receive a library card and learn the advantages of visiting a library.
