DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS CONVENTION CAUCUSES

V.I. Democrats are choosing delegates for the national convention in Boston. July 26 to 29.
Democratic State Chair James O'Bryan, Jr., in a press release April 15, called for registered Democrats to cast votes April 17 in their districts to select delegates.
Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Midland Restaurant on St. Croix and at the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel's Tradewinds Room on St. Thomas.
St. Croix
Two male candidates will be selected from the following candidates: Cecil Benjamin, Omar Henry, Gregory Francis, and Maxwell McIntosh.
One woman will be selected from the following candidates: Sonia Boyce Gloria Canegata Waterman, Dr. Adelle Allen, and Carol Burke
St. Thomas/St. John District
One male candidate will be selected from the following candidates: Glen Smith, Basil Ottley, Elmo Adams, Jr., Hugo Dennis, Jr., Simon Caines, and Mark Hodge.
Two women will be selected from the following candidates: Sandra Thomas –Mason, Pierina Jacobs Roebuck, Rev. Toi Barbel-Smith, and Desiree Hill.
All candidates have pledged to support Sen. John Kerry to be the Democratic Party's nominee for president of the United States. All registered Democrats are eligible to vote in the caucus elections.
A voter's registration card will avoid any question of eligibility.
