Gertrude Agatha Edney Ilse Dies

Gertrude Agatha Edney Ilse Gertrude Agatha Edney Ilse died at home on Sunday, March 22.
She was predeceased by her parents: Hubert and Agatha Edney; sister, Isabelle Williams; and brother, Adolphus Edney.
She is survived by her son, Derek Iles; sisters: Jean Canton, Claudia Merrick and Genenieve Edney; grandchildren: Julia, J’dhai, Princess and Kadecia Iles; nephews: Randy, Norman and Brian Edney, Michael and Dr. Kasey Canton, Randy and Roan Ross; nieces: Majorie Kennedy, Luara Edney, Reva Ross, Karen and Dana Williams, Leone Rohr and attorney Yvette Ross-Edwards; 27 great- great-great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mildred Edney; brother-in-law, Fidelis Canton; the Edney, Petersen, James and Heyliger families; caregiver, "Miss Ann;" chosen daughter, Yvonne Francis; Christiansted High School and Inter-American University classmates; godchildren; and stepchildren.
She is also survived by special relatives and friends: Dr. Sylvia Ross-Talbot, Gertrude Jones, Clarissa Lewis, Dr. Karen Bolling Karlson, Albert and Marie Schuster, Sharon Brown, Josephine Hector, Roslyn Canton-Lang, Rupert and Cheryl Ross, Noel and Camille Blakey, Dr. Aracelis Francis, Drs. Larry and Linda Benjamin, James Rodgers, Patricia Singh, the Lang family, the Carrington family, the Women of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jean Carty-Wade, Rev. and Mrs. David Henry, Mr. and Mrs. Walford Galloway, and David and Paula Isaac; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention
Gertrude will live on in the hearts of her family and many others whose lives she touched during her 30-plus years of committed service in the St. Croix public school system.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 10, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Frederiksted. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
