Lillian Smithen Stanley died on Oct. 14. She was 80 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Oscar Stanley, who passed away on July 23, 2014.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvette Stanley Willocks; sons: Paul Leroy Stanley, Edread Ray Stanley and Rodney Oscar Stanley; adopted son, Carl "Shooter" Stanley; grandchildren: Paul Jr., Jinelle, Camille, Yorel and Jaylon Stanley; Ashley Benton, Ratania Green, Khareem, Jamali, Abdul, Jamel, Tevon, Taeya, Rodney Ray and William Stanley, Rodney Jr., Wackeem and Renna Stanley, Saida and Harold Alex Willocks; and great-grandchildren: Khalil and Kai Stanley; Kyler and Jamyson Richards, Mykayla Benton, Le’Nika Frederick, Kayla Marie, Karebm and Clarene Kareena Stanley, Tes’John, Jeremiah and Amiah Stanley, Nickira Stanley and Seleena Willocks.
She is also survived by sisters: Maude Francis and Veronica Daniel; brother, Keimeth Smithen; son-in-law, Judge Harold W.L. Willocks; daughter-in-law, Jeannette Stanley; sisters-in-law: Maria Smithen, Florence Rahming, Margaret Claxton and Marilyn Samuel; brothers-in-law: Ernest, Anderson, Thomas, David, Elton and Franklin Stanley; former daughter-in-law, Ermine King; and special friends: Mary George, Clarice Seely, Nella Baptiste, Elvina Burnett, Paulette Drew, the Alfredo Andrews School family, Daughters of the King and St. John’s Anglican Church.
Other survivors include godson, Dion Samuel; nieces and nephews to include: Philip, Winston and Clayton Francis, Leonie LaPlace, Joan Smithen, Rovelia Ward, Maurice "Pancho" LeCointe, Elroy LeCointe, Vera "Kitty" Joseph, and Avis Stanley Benjamin; as well as many other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Special thanks to devoted caregivers: Eliza Antoine, Beryl Hansen, Continuum Care Inc. caregivers to include Oneca Glasco, Carlina Lawrence and Shereen Bandoo, and for the attentive care of Risa Nielsen M.D.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Sion Farm, St. Croix. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
