Miguel Velazquez Dies at 80

Miguel Velazquez Miguel Velazquez, also known as "El Yankee," of Estate Catherine Rest died on Sept. 1. He was 80 years old.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecilio Velasquez; mother, Thomasa Pereida; brother, Andre Velasquez; and sister, Petra Velasquez.
He is survived by his companion, Gloria Felix; daughters: Nilsa Velasquez Encarnacion, Miguelina Velasquez, Norma Velasquez, Maritza Velasquez; adopted daughter, Alicia Garcia; stepson, Samuel Felix; and grandchildren: Frank Morales, Miguel Morales, Angel Morales, Christabell, Miguel Velasquez, Eveelyn Rosa, Angel M. Velasquez, Harold Abraham Jr., Jahsheem Parker, Dean Johnson, Jr., Jahreem Johnson, Jahritza Johnson, Tia Jarvis and Keila Johnson; sister, Daniela Velasquez.
He is also survived by brothers: Herman Velaquez and Elias Velasquez; nieces: Olga I. Pereidia, Madelyn Felix, Olga Rivera, Milagro Velasquez and Aaliyah Velasquez; nephews: Andre Rivera, Orlando Pereida, Marcial Velasquez and Carlos Velasquez; aunts: Isabell Velasquez, Angelita Velasquez and Felisa Velasquez; uncles: Carmello Velasquez, Domingo Velasquez and Isabello Velasquez; son-in-law, Roberto Encarnacion; sister-in-law, Jannett Velasquez; special friends: Jeep Club members and Caribe Home Center Co-workers; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

There will be a viewing from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at the James Memorial Funeral Home Inc.
There will be a second viewing held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at Iglesia Hermanos Unidos en Cristo El Buen Pastor, Richmond. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
