Ira Edwards Dies at 77

Ira Edwards, also known as "Brugal," of Estate Smithfield died on Aug. 9, at the Herbert Grigg Home for the Aged. He was 77 years old.
He is survived by his spouse, Margarette Edwards; daughters: Judith Menders, Jamela Edwards and Judith Edwards; stepdaughters: Joycelyn and Alicia Gloade; stepsons: Leroy and Alex Gloade; six grandchildren; son-in-law, Anthony Menders; sisters: Idalia Richards and Clementina Knight; nieces: Lydia Parris, Bernadette Williams, Ann Edney, Judy, Marci, Floret and Jermain Milligan; nephews: Irvin Peters, Henry and Granville Milligan, and Renwick Lynch; special friends: Jacob Byron, Claudella James and family, Marilyn Abraham and family, Richards family, St. Paul's Church ECW members and family, and Fenton Family; cousins and other relatives: Milligan family, Edney family, Lynch family, Paulette Smith-Hodge and family, Beverly Smith-Stalliard and family, Amelia Petersen-Joseph and family, Ruth Dublin and family; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Frederiksted Cemetery.
