UVI Play Portrays St. Croix Native and Activist Hubert Harrison

St. Croix native Hubert Harrison is widely considered a leader in the movement for equality and justice for African Americans during the early 20th Century. Harrison worked closely with W.E.B. Du Bois, Marcus Garvey and other activists, but he never received the acclaim of those leaders.

Lillian Violeta Armstrong Dies at 83

 

Lillian Violeta Armstrong, also known as "Leta," of Herbert Grigg Home For The Aged died on May 27 at her residence. She was 83 years old.
She is survived by her sisters: Leatrice Percy and Marion Jones; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at the Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Christiansted Cemetery.
