Beach Advisory for November 27 -- Dec. 4

 DPNR advises the public to refrain from using the coastal waters throughout the territory until further notification.  The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) has announced that due to heavy rains this week, the Division of Environmental Protection (DEP) anticipates that negative environmental impacts will be caused by storm water runoff.

V.I. Veterans of the Vietnam War Documentary to Be Shown Dec. 1-3

V.I. American Legion District 10 will present a locally-made documentary on Virgin Islanders who served in the Vietnam War. “Proudly We Served: Virgin Islands Veterans of the Vietnam War” is a compilation of 25 interviews conducted with the intention of preserving the history of the territory and honor the military service of those who served during the conflict.

James Orlando Gaston

James Orlando Gaston, Jr. also known as "Ice," of Estate Glynn died on Oct. 4, at the Hima Hospital in Puerto Rico. He was 25 years old.
     He is survived by his mother, Florentina Figueroa-Wyant; father, James O. Gaston; grandparents: Jean Figueroa and Lois Wyant; stepfather, David Wyant; stepmother, Messelina Gaston; sisters: Divana Wyant, Kliphtina L. Gaston, Jamaelise J.F Gaston, Messelina F. Gaston II and Jacquelyne K. Gaston; frothers: Teneskey Mombelly Jr., Haniph E. Gaston and James O. Gaston II; aunts: Maude Figueroa-Gaston, Julia Figueroa Rawlins Orosia Figueroa, MaryJane Gaston, Andrea Gaston, Theodora Gaston and Ester Gaston; uncles: Andres Figueroa Jr., Joseph A. Figueroa, Roger Gaston Sr., Bernard Gaston and Geoffrey Gaston; uncles-in-law: Reginald Antoine Sr. and Damian Daniel; and great aunt, Orosia Figueroa-Hernandez;

The family requests that those attending the  services wear festive colors.
     There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
