Akeem Delroy Lee Dies at 20

Akeem Delroy Lee of New Jersey died on Jan. 4. He was 20 years old.

He is survived by his mother, Youlanda Lee-Clendenen; father, Delroy L. Sweeney; sisters: Beryl Pedro, Minerva Sweeney-Delauney, Denisha and D’andra Sweeney; brothers: Asheem Lee, Sheldon, Abdel, Kwesi and Demetri Sweeney; special cousin, Eddison Peters Jr.; grandmother, Erma Lee Peters; grandfather, Prince Albert Heywood; and step-grandfather, Julian Peters. He is also survived by many cousins too numerous to mention; aunts and uncles: Nizia George, Deseree Wynter, Oraine Roper, Paulette Lablanc and Irone Merrick, Robert and Rudolph Lee, Andy and Eddison Peters Sr., Jermaine Steele, Alex George and Vaughn Sweeney; great uncles and great aunts: Clyde, Hubert and Raphael Lee, Kimn Bazil, Ena Deira and Yvonne James and David Urgent; nephew and nieces: Shadony Lopez, Jahdony Pedro, Zion Delauney, Nigell Sebastian and Akeem Taylor, Indira Merrick, Jahlaya Pedro, Michaunde Delauney and A’shira Sweeney. Other survivors include godparents: Kent Wathey, Jean Henry, Jaun Garcia, Allington Scotland, Mr. and Mrs. Edley John, Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Johnson, Marilyn Winston, Wilfred Abbott and Carmen Simmnds; special friends: Deshaune, Anthony, James, Jahnilah, Akeem, Melvin and Clifford, Police Athletic League, Elmo Plaskett Baseball Little League; close family friends: Clifferna Simmonds and family, Joycelyn and family, Sherry and family, Mr. and Mrs. Scattliffe and family, the Mingo family, Crosbie family, Heywood family, Thomas family, Dexter and Martha Albert and family, Clendenen family, Muriel and family, Albert family, Jennifer and family, Quashie family, Heyliger family, the Polydore family, Seaton family, Greenidge family, Kamya, Virginia Simmonds and family, Rahima and family, Mr. and Mrs. Michus Cyrille and family, the Williams family of Tortola, the entire Peters family and the entire Seville family; as well as other relatives and friends in Tortola, U.S. Mainland and St. Vincent too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, at the New Testament Church of God, Estate Whim. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
