Three events are slated for the opening of the school year – V.I. Fathers Back to School Barbecue and Fun Day on Saturday, Aug. 27; the Back to School Days of Prayer on Saturday , Sept. 3, and Sunday, Sept. 4; and the V.I. Fathers March on Sept. 6, the first day of school for public schools in the territory. Organizers are encouraging fathers to take their children back to school starting on the first day.

Charles Vincent Jeffers Dies at 64

Charles Vincent Jeffers

Charles Vincent Jeffers of Bellevue died on Nov. 6, at his residence. He was 64 years old.

He is survived by his brothers: George, Orville and Kelvin Jeffers, and Samuel, Alford, Evanston, Eugene, Owen and Anthony Seabrooks; sisters: Patricia, Justina, Sharmaine and Jennifer Jeffers; children: Nicky, Rohan, Elizabeth, Jessica and Sean Jeffers; and grandchild: Dominic Jeffers. He is also survived by nieces: Josetta, Maurine, Jackie, Lorie and Ursula Jeffers; nephews: Malford and Justin Jeffers, Chrone Flemming, and Jamie, Morris, Ian, Ron and Marvin Jeffers; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Special thanks go to Paula Lynch, Iva Parree, Euletta Iansle, Sydney Sadio, the staff at Sterling Optical, Helena Strker-Phipps and family, Jessica Rawlins, Dr. Assefa, John Milnes, the Parry family on St. Thomas, Judith and family, and Vincent.
A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov.14, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Christiansted. Cremation will follow.
