McDonald’s Voted One of the Best Companies for Which to Work

Arcos Dorados, the company that operates McDonald’s USVI, placed sixth in the Great Place to Work® 2013 ranking of the best multinational companies to work for in Latin America and the Caribbean. The announcement was made on May 29 in Cancun, Mexico, at a ceremony that marked the tenth annual edition of the list.
"Great Place to Work® recognition reflects and confirms our strong commitment to our People – a commitment which translates into Company values, as we strive daily to create an enjoyable and inclusive workplace and promote a culture of meritocracy and excellence,” said Pablo Rodríguez de la Torre, vice president of human resources for Arcos Dorados.
Arcos Dorados employs more than 90,000 people in Latin America and the Caribbean, who serve more than 4.3 million customers each day.
For many young persons, a job at McDonald’s is their first formal employment and development opportunity. Employees are given continuous training that focuses not only on operational aspects but also on values and principles such as honesty, integrity and hospitality that will accompany them through life.
The company has comprehensive training programs in all countries where it operates. Their restaurants serve as training centers, divisional Academic Development Centers, as well as McDonald’s University, a center for advanced studies in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Courses offered by the Leadership, Business and Operational Excellence schools provide leaders with the ability to further develop competencies that are necessary to their careers and to the business.
McDonald’s employees in the USVI are privileged with the same opportunities. The first Internal Promotion Process was held in March of this year at the Lockhart Gardens Restaurant on St. Thomas. Seven crew members successfully completed the process and are now candidates to begin training as certified swing managers and crew trainers.
McDonald’s also received important recognition in the Great Place to Work® “Camaraderie” category.
