HH Tire Reopens Days after Devastating Fire

HH Tire and Battery on St. Croix, which burned to the ground Monday, reopened at a new, temporary location Friday.

The temporary spot is located across from Junie’s Restaurant, at the east end of Hess Road where it meets South Shore Road.

"Our amazing team has been working hard to get it ready as soon as possible for all of our loyal patrons,” the company said in a statement Friday. “We appreciate all of the support we have received this week from those near and far. Please stay tuned for our official opening date, coming soon!”

The Hensley family has owned and operated HH Tire and Battery for 52 years. Third generation owner, Kevin Hensley, said Friday that all 30 employees will be retained when the new location opens. Second generation owner, Patrick Hensley, and his wife, Patricia Hensley, will be present for the opening of the new storefront, which they hope will be by mid-December.

“We cannot thank the St. Croix community enough for their support during this time. Our priority is getting our long time employees back to work so they can continue to support their families,” Kevin Hensley said. “We look forward to rebuilding so we can continue to serve our loyal patrons as we have for over 50 years.”
